This front page continues to bring a smile to the face of our news team months on.

This story of a builder in the middle of an extension planning application row with the council suddenly became a national story, receiving widespread attention due to the disgruntled builder deciding to make an amusing addition at the construction site. The creation of a gargoyle in the likeness of the Trowbridge Town Council chief suddenly caused a stir in the area and in the nationals. However, our photographer's work to convince council leader Stewart Palmen to pose in the manner of the sculpture, complete with tongue out and adonred in half-moon spectacles, and the juxtaposition used in our design of the paper summed up the humorous, slightly silly, story perfectly. And it was great to be able to produce such a good illustration for what is a rare appearance of a feel-good story on a front page.
