Vicky Gayle

Freelance investigative journalist

Vicky is a freelance investigative journalist with bylines in the Observer, Migrant Women Press, the Voice, the BBC and more. Previously a reporter at the Bureau of Investigative Journalism (TBIJ) in its Bureau Local team, her work focused on health inequalities and injustices facing marginalised groups. Vicky began her career in Birmingham before moving to Essex where she worked as a news reporter at the Daily Gazette and other weekly titles. After a secondment with the BBC's Shared Data Unit in 2018, she returned to Newsquest to co-lead its first data investigations unit. She was also a commissioning editor for Black Ballad's Black Women in Britain project.
