Richard Duggan

Richard Duggan is Regional Editor for Newsquest Media Group in the North West, overseeing six news websites and five newspapers across Greater Manchester and Lancashire. An experienced digital journalist and newsroom leader, he has spent more than a decade in the industry. Before joining Newsquest, Richard held a number of senior leadership positions at Reach plc, including Editor of EssexLive, CambridgeshireLive, HertsLive and BedfordshireLive. He has been recognised nationally for his journalism and was twice shortlisted for several Regional Press Awards as a reporter. Richard is passionate about local journalism's role in holding power to account, championing communities and driving meaningful change. As a Regional Press Awards judge, he brings extensive experience of digital publishing, newsroom innovation and high-impact reporting.

Tell the story behind the story. Don't just submit great journalism; explain why it mattered. Judges may not know the background, so clearly set out the challenge, your approach, the impact of the work and any measurable results. The strongest entries combine excellent journalism with evidence of real-world outcomes.
