Michelle Lockwood

Michelle Lockwood is a superb page designer who works for National World's Group Design Hub. She works across our entire portfolio and specialises in page designs for the city daily titles. Her standout work is in the area of sports data visualisation. Earlier this year we began a relaunch programme for our eight city daily titles and as part of this gave Michelle a blank canvas each week to create a double page spread of sports facts and stats. This feature runs every Saturday in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Sheffield Star, Sunderland Echo, Shields Gazette, Lancashire Post, Blackpool Gazette, Edinburgh Evening News and Portsmouth News.

It is a highly visual, engaging and exciting highlight of the week which captures the complete dynamism of sport and bring dry statistics vividly to life. Even non-sports fans find the designs so captivating they can't be put down. The Stats covers all sports throughout the year and Michelle will either create the words and facts herself or work closely with our sports reporting team to find subjects which are of critical interest each week. These designs have captured the spirit of our titles' relaunch - using a powerful visual language to communicate with print readers in news ways and hold their attention to give them a much richer, deeper reading experience.
