The success of Kent Online - with 30m unique views a month - was the driving force behind Suffolk News initially at launch stage in August 2020. Creaky websites from established newspaper brands in the west of the county were amalgamated under one umbrella. We kicked off with 600k-800k views a month from existing traffic for the west of Suffolk (about one third of the county's population). Since 2020, we have pushed into the previously untouched two-thirds of the county, gradually increased staffing and this has enabled a *new* digital newsdesk to now cover the whole county. We didn't get it right at inception. Initial workflows have been tweaked and initial story ideas have been reframed to meet the needs of our audience(s).
