Charlotte Ikonen

Lottie Ikonen is Head of Digital Content and Trusted Local News at Newsquest. She works with newsrooms across the UK, helping journalists grow audiences, make the most of digital platforms and find new ways to tell local stories. She started out as a local journalist and is passionate about supporting and developing people working in regional journalism. Outside of work, she volunteers as a Lifeboat Press Officer with Brighton RNLI. She started her career as a local journalist and has since worked across news, digital and audience roles. In her current role, she focuses on helping newsrooms try new ideas, develop their digital skills and share what's working across the business. Originally from Brighton, Lottie also volunteers as a Lifeboat Press Officer with Brighton RNLI.

What are you looking for in winning entries? 

I'm looking for work that stands out and shows why great regional journalism matters. Strong original reporting, stories that make a real difference to their communities and journalism that has taken determination to produce will all catch my attention. I'll also be looking for entries that show personality, creativity and a clear understanding of their audience.
